Waterproof flooring in a New Franken, WI master bathroom

The difference between waterproof and water-resistant flooring

?Water, water everywhere? sounds great as part of a 19th-Century poem, but it's not the kind of thing you want to say when describing your home. Yet, spills happen. And when spills occur, it is nice to have flooring that is resistant or protected from moisture. But what is the difference between ?resistant? and ?proof? when it comes this flooring?

Water-resistant or waterproof flooring

This kind of flooring is just that. It is meant to be highly resistant to occasional water, but it needs to be cleaned up quickly. Laminate flooring is one example of a floor that is typically designed to be water-resistant.

On the other hand, when we speak about waterproof floors, we mean just that. Water will not cause the flooring to break down, warp, stain, or discolor. Also, a waterproof floor creates an impenetrable barrier between it and the sub-floor below it. If water spills, clean it up, and there are no fears or concerns of damage being done.

What is the most popular waterproof flooring?

Without question, it is luxury vinyl flooring. Whether you want a wood-look flooring like LVP (luxury vinyl plank flooring) or want a tile look like that of LVT (luxury vinyl tile flooring), both offer attractive, durable, and waterproof flooring. They are outstanding in kitchens and bathrooms, but also excellent options for your whole home. They provide stunning flooring at a reasonable price, totally unaffected by moisture, spills, or otherwise. They are also very easy to keep clean. Could you want anything more?
